1) Born 4 November 1881 at Norsewood. Parents Jens Christian Petersen and Elizabeth Petersen.

2) Married at Woodville Wesleyan Methodist Church 4 July 1898 to Alfred Gregory Riches. Age is given as 21 (known to be incorrect).

Accidents and Fatalities

Woman Killed by Capsize of Motor Car

A motoring accident which resulted in the death of Mrs Elizabeth Riches occurred on the Matapuna Road about a mile from Taumarunui at 4.30 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

A party of five were returning from Piriaka after holding an evangelical meeting in that town when the car which was driven by Mr A G Riches swerved and running into soft metal on the road turned completely over. Four occupants, Misters A G Riches, W McCann, N Hyde, and Mrs Park were thrown clear but Mrs Riches was pinned underneath and she succumbed almost immediately.

Mrs Park (who is the daughter of the deceased) and Mr McCann were injured and removed to hospital. Mr and Mrs Riches have been residents for many years in the King Country and are well known in farming circles.
